A man was arrested on a charge of theft after allegedly breaking into homes and stealing expensive watches in order to pay for s*x with prostitutes, police in Japan said.
According to Scoop, Tokyo police said that they have arrested 33-year-old Hirotaka Sugawara, after being accused of breaking into at least 100 homes in order to pay for visits to brothels. In the latest incident, Sugawara used a screwdriver to remove a glass door of a home.
Once inside, he ransacked the place and fled with 240,000 yen ($1,996) and five Rolex watches worth about 1.5 million yen ($12,500). According to the police investigation, Sugawara had been behind more than 130 similar robberies in Tokyo and Saitama.
He is accused of stealing around 33 million yen ($274,371). During questioning, Sugawara admitted to police that he used all the money to pay for s*x with prostitutes.
