Arsenal’s Wojchiech Szczesny is on the brink of signing a loan deal with Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma, after announcing on social media that he is on his way to Italy to become a Roma player.

The Polish goalkeeper first began following Roma and a few Giallorossi players on Instagram a few days ago, but then has added a bit of certainty to rumours sorounding his future since Arsenal signed Czech, Petr Cech, by confirming that he is signing for the Serie A club on Monday.
Szczesny, who signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal in November 2013, posted the video below on Instagram, saying: “Good evening Roma fans. I’m very happy to be signing for Roma tomorrow. Ciao!”

Szczesny trained with Legia Warsaw during his fledgling days before joining Arsenal youth team in 2006, and then went on to make his senior team debut in 2009.
Having been named as a substitute to countryman Lukasz Fabianski in the FA Cup final in 2014, the 25-year-old started this year’s final as Arsenal completed a successful defense of their title; keeping clean sheet against Aston Villa at the Wenbley stadium.
Szczesny’s previous loan spell came at the Brentford in the 2009-2010 season. That leaves David Ospina as understudy to Cech.
